15% of Chinese Twitter accounts are fake

Currently, much is questioned what is the percentage of fake accounts of the Twitter, after Elon Musk stated that he would only go ahead with the purchase of the social network when he knows the true number. Israeli computer security company CHEQ may have the answer: 15% of all Chinese Twitter accounts are nothing but bots.

This company's platform identifies and filters invalid traffic – such as bots – that visit its customers' pages. In this way, CHEQ is able to see and study fake accounts that click on ads and other organic links on Twitter. Over the last month, 879 visits were analyzed and the sites where the bots originated, as well as the country where they were created, were identified.

BUT: Twitter is testing new tab with podcasts

The analysis further revealed that 7,5% of all verified traffic on customer sites coming from Twitter was labeled invalid by the CHEQ software. Daniel Avital, the company's global head of Marketing, also points out that the percentage of bots can be significantly higher, as CHEQ only identifies fake accounts that click on ads or links on the social network.

This data comes after Elon Musk said he would only buy Twitter if the percentage total bots is below 5% and of the social network going to court to get the businessman to comply with his acquisition agreement worth 44 billion dollars.
