Meta is bringing its AI-powered editing tools directly to Instagram Stories, allowing users to use text prompts to add, remove, or change elements in photos and videos, or even completely transform them.

Until now, AI-powered editing options on Instagram were limited to interactions with the Meta AI chatbot. With the new update, these tools are now more easily integrated within the Stories interface.

The new features can be found in the "Restyle" menu at the top of the screen by tapping the paintbrush icon. From there, the user can choose between "add," "remove," or "change," and then describe what they want to change in the text bar.

For example, you can ask to change the hair color, add a crown, or insert a sunset background.

Meta also includes preset effects that allow you to change the style of the image or even the clothing, such as adding sunglasses, a biker jacket, or applying a watercolor effect. In videos, you can create effects like falling snow or flames appearing in the scene.

These updates are part of Meta's ongoing efforts to strengthen the AI presence on its platforms and remain competitive in the market. The company recently began testing the "Write with Meta AI" feature, which helps users generate intelligent comments for posts.

Last month, Meta also launched a new AI-generated video feed, called "Vibes," within the Meta AI app, a strategy that appears to be paying off. According to data from Similarweb, the app's daily active users increased to 2,7 million on October 17, up from 775 four weeks ago.

To address parents' concerns, Meta also announced new parental control tools that allow you to disable conversations with AI characters and monitor the topics teens discuss with the Meta AI chatbot.
