The eighth National Conference on Science and Technology (CNCT), bringing together Angolan and foreign researchers, will take place between November 30th and December 1st of the current year, according to what was revealed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Sambo.

speaking in the 1st International Congress on “Science, Innovation and Development of Lusofonia”, in Mindelo (Cape Verde), the person responsible said she hopes that Cape Verde will have an active participation in the event, bringing investigative work that brings added value from researchers' contributions to solving social problems.

On the other hand, the minister said that the ministry will support universities that intend to promote the second edition of the International Congress on “Science, Innovation and Development of Lusofonia”.

The minister hopes that Angolan universities will embrace the challenge launched by the Vice-President of Angola, Esperança da Costa, during the opening of the 1st International Congress on “Science, Innovation and Development of Lusofonia”, so that the second edition can take place in Luanda.

Regarding the congress, he made it known that the works presented demonstrate the results of investigations, the results of which can have a positive impact on people's lives.

Maria do Rosário Sambo clarified that we often get the idea that research has to be oriented towards solving a specific problem, as in the case of applied research.

He reinforced that with fundamental research, it often functions as the observation and explanation of phenomena that can, even in the future, as with science, allow the development of applied research, such as what is currently known in genetics.

The minister highlighted the importance of Angola's participation in the event, which made almost 50 percent of the communications in round tables and free communications and in different panels.

The Angolan delegation was present with 150 researchers, including 46 speakers, who actively participated in the most diverse areas of Science and Innovation. Ten lectures were held in person.

The Congress, between conferences and round tables, addressed “The Paths to quality scientific research in Lusophony, promoting dialogue between universities, political power and companies”, as well as “Science, technology and innovation in Lusophone countries : challenges and opportunities in the XNUMXst century”.

Researchers from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Macau and Portugal participated in person and virtually, while from Brazil, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe they did so only in digital format.
