Accelerating digital coverage in Mozambique is a challenge

The operator Movitel considers that Mozambique's digital market is too complex given the size of the country and the nature of the climate, which sometimes make it difficult to expand the mobile telephone network.

According to the technical director of that operator, Nércio Mucavel, the operator intends to live up to its slogan “everywhere at all times” to reach all the most remote parts of the country.

"We have adhered to the expansion plan and our idea is to bring all 2, 3 and 4G services to all citizens who have never had access to these services, as well as safeguarding the mobile wallet to cover populations in rural areas without neglecting urban areas whose plan is based on the purpose of serving the country well“, said the person in charge.

Regarding network coverage, Nércio Mucavel says that his operator has coverage of around 85%, with some points still without coverage. However, the perspective is to cover the administrative post of Matibane, in Mossuril, Molumbo, in the province of Zambézia. These points mentioned, as explained by Nércio Mucavel, have the network, however without the desired quality, as the network inherently comes from neighboring districts.

"We are working with the INCM on the universal access program, which we believe will cover this uncovered portion“, he said adding that in these areas mentioned the internet is 2G.

There are some districts that show accelerated development, which is why we implemented 4G, highlighting that in relation to the mobile wallet there is notable growth thanks to the efforts of the teams that work hard to attract customers every day.
