Airbus Defense and Space will train more than 15 Angolan specialists to operate the ANGEO-1, the first Angolan Earth Observation satellite, which will be built as part of the official visit of the French President to Angola, and where he will “lies in the mechanisms and actions to reinforce the partnership and collaboration between the two states".

The renowned French space engineering company will also provide academic training at master's and doctoral degrees in the space field, an action that seeks to continue the construction program, strengthening and expanding internal skills through knowledge transfer programs and targeted training.

"In Toulouse, France, for example, at one of the world's leading institutes in space technologies, ISAE-SUPAERO, 11 Angolan engineers were trained to master's level in areas such as: space applications using satellite images, space systems engineering and space management projects”, said Mário Oliveira, Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, speaking at the launch of ANGEO-1.

ANGEO-1 will be built to further promote the country's development in many different sectors, improving the lives of Angolan citizens, building capacity, diversifying the economy and benefiting a very diverse sector.

In addition to this, ANGEO-1 will also enable Angola to continue to develop space-based decision support tools, thus increasing efficiency in a variety of sectors, both in the civil, public and security domains. This includes better understanding the origins and impacts of climate change on the economy, for example monitoring drought, rising sea levels, water resources and reducing asset loss with more effective disaster preparedness and response actions.
