It seems that the technology giants are determined to bet on the Portuguese market. After Google having guaranteed that it will install in Portugal a center that will serve to aggregate service providers that work with the multinational in the regions of Europe, Middle East and Africa, another technology giant is forecast to arrive in Portugal.
A Amazon may be the next to announce an investment in the lands of Camões. Its arrival can even be made official until the end of the first quarter, and the city of Porto is on the list of preferences to install the online retailer, which since 2016 was showing signs of wanting to advance to the Portuguese market.
A close source assured that the US giant is in talks with the municipality of Porto, in view of its installation in the Boavista area. The Porto Chamber declined to comment on the matter, as well as an official Amazon source who said it only had "a policy of not commenting on rumors or speculation." Also the Ministry of Economy did not comment on the matter.
Amazon recently announced that “Portuguese customers can now receive millions of products for free directly sold or shipped by Amazon.es. This only happens for the costs of deliveries'standard'for Portugal in orders higher than 29 euros ".
This decision may have been a way for the gather more information on the interest of the Portuguese on the retailer's website, particularly the most sought after products. Now, it is expected that Amazon.pt reaches the Portuguese market
