The fight between the Android and iOS lasts for many years without one being able to dominate the other. If there are areas where Android is at the top, in others it is iOS that dominates. A new study came to address the issue of usability within the 2 systems. The result is a dominance of Android over iOS.

Although they have many similar elements, both Android and iOS have their own personalities and unique characteristics. In any of the systems, usability is a constant concern, one of the reasons why users make their choices.

A recent study by Green Smartphones sought to determine which of the two systems has better usability. The report analyzed search engine data, measuring the number of times users of both systems sought help with basic operations such as screen recording, capturing images or sharing location.

The results indicated that iPhone users sought help with these basic functions about 358.000 times a month, 58% more than on Android. The biggest discrepancy was observed in the research by “how to erase all content and settings“. In this case, iOS users searched six times more times than Android users.

On average, there were 226.000 monthly searches made by Android users for help with basic tasks versus 358.000 for iOS users. This is later reflected in a difference of 58,41%. This happens even with a user base that is close, at least in the US where the study took place.

This study was based on an analysis of Google search volume in the United States over the last 12 months. To maintain consistency and generate comparable values, the same keyword format was used for both operating systems.

Although the debate between Android and iOS has been going on for many years, it will never come to a conclusion. The arguments are clear and are based on the flexibility and customization of Android against the speed and security of iOS. With this study it becomes more visible that Android can be easier to use for the average user.
