A Angola Cables, in order to further expand the reach of the network and the peering, announced Wednesday 8 2017, which hopes to establish a PoP in Cape Town, South Africa before the end of the year.

After almost a year of operations in South Africa, the company has seen exponential growth in its customer base. Currently, with a PoP in the city of Johannesburg, the increased demand resulted in Angola Cables' decision to develop a PoP infrastructure for customers in Cape Town.

According to Antonio Nunes, the CEO of Angola Cables, “Angola is getting closer to becoming one of the telecommunications centers in the sub-Saharan region. Investments in submarine cable systems, namely WACS, already operational, SACS and Monet and data centers are creating, not only information highways that will bring us closer to the major centers of production of digital content and services, but also important parts of the major international telecommunications circuits ”.

Angola Cables is firmly focused on increasing its presence on the continent. The company is also expanding the presence of African customers abroad. With the completion of SACS in mid-2018 and Monet this year, the company will pioneer the fastest routes between South Africa, Brazil and the U.S.

The company has also developed a “EuroRing” to provide African companies with improved connectivity to Europe, including access to leading cloud service providers and content providers.

Darwin Coast, product manager for Angola Cables, said that this expansion will provide the capacity to meet local internet and content demands as well as improve peering activities in the region.
