
Angola Cables telecommunications company, has entered into an agreement with Amlight (Americas Lightpaths) for an improvement in research and education infrastructures, the agreement signed on Wednesday (30) in November will count on the collaboration of the African continent, the United States of America and Latin America, aimed at bringing about a development of a next-generation internet network.
The agreement between Angola Cables and Amlight, has the main objective of connecting the communities of researchers and students, as well as helping to promote the creation and sharing of knowledge between the countries involved.
Antonio Nunes, Executive Director of Angola Cables, said that the signature is a commitment to support research and education between the African continent and the Americas, through the operation of the production network infrastructure for communication and collaboration.
It is a historic moment that marks the beginning of direct submarine cable connectivity between Latin America and the African continent, and that your institution is prepared to start operating a new international exchange point open for research and education in Fortaleza, Brazil, in collaboration with the members of the Amlight consortium- words from the general director of the National Education and Research Network (RNP) of Brazil, Nelson Simões.
Nelson Simões, also said that plans are underway to link the research and education communities of the United States of America and the African continent, which in turn will establish a high-performance network connection between the international exchange point AMPATH in Miami , Angonix, exchange point with roots in Luanda, and Defined Exchange (SDX) in São Paulo.
