Angola Cables, supplier of digital solutions and network services, has partnered with Cameroonian telecommunications operator, Camtel, to increase digital and connectivity services in Cameroon and West Africa.
The agreement, signed last week, follows both parties' intention to pursue commercial prospects in West Africa and the Atlantic area to improve redundancy, network resilience and quality of service on a national and international scale.
The parties stated that the agreement represents a significant step towards boosting telecommunications and digital connectivity across Africa.
“For users, it will help ensure connectivity, trade, boost economies, expand and grow companies across the region,” said Fernando Fernandes, country manager at TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables.
In a statement, the two organizations stated that, by taking advantage of the company's extensive submarine cable connections, BAGS, WACS e Many As part of the Angola Cables backhaul network – as well as the additional connectivity provided by Camtel on the South Atlantic Inter Link – companies and businesses will have expanded capacity options and better access to traffic for West Africa's local and regional networks through Angola Cables and Camtel points of presence.
“The partnership, once due diligence is completed, could transform Internet connectivity and data transmission in West Africa,” says Fernandes.
Camtel CEO Judith Yah Sunday Epse Achidi states: “Our strategic intent is to leverage the robust backhaul connectivity of Angola Cables' network and the existing interconnections we have with other submarine cables linking the region and the world, to provide flexible and secure value-added services to our customers and companies.”
