Angola has seen notable growth in the use of social networks, with 3,45 million users over the age of 18, which corresponds to approximately 20% of the adult population, revealed the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS), Mário Oliveira.

When speaking at the opening of the 1st Internet Governance Forum in Angola, carried out by the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI), the leader informed that “Nevertheless, and despite these advances, we still face substantial challenges, especially with regard to increasing the size of broadband networks and other last-mile support infrastructure, reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas, and promoting of digital literacy for all Angolans".

From the perspective of the holder of the Telecommunications portfolio, to mitigate the problems, the Government has implemented several projects to reduce digital info-exclusion, through the exploitation and use of the most modern technologies.

Through innovative and strategic programs, said Mário Oliveira, the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication is working “exhaustively” to ensure digitalization that benefits everyone, regardless of residential area and socioeconomic conditions.

The government official stressed that digital inclusion, in addition to providing access to the Internet, ensures that each citizen has the necessary skills to use Information and Communication Technologies, placing them at the service of society and development.

"The objective is ambitious, but with the involvement of all sectors of society, it will certainly be achieved.”, highlighted the minister.
