Angola wins 19 medals at the Ideas, Innovation and New Products Fair (iENA 2023)

The Angolan delegation won 19 medals, 3 gold, 6 silver and 10 bronze in the 74th edition of the Ideas, Innovation and New Products Fair, which took place last week, in the city of Nuremberg, Germany.

Young Angolans presented 32 projects and a group made up of 10 elements, including inventors representing universities, research institutions, companies and startups. Among the universities, Agostinho Neto (UAN), Metodista de Angola (UMA) and Mandume Ya Ndemufayo, represented by the Polytechnic Institute of Ondjiva, stand out.

From what was revealed to Jornal de Angola, the projects were registered in the university, company and social responsibility categories.

With the trophies won this year, the country reaches the mark of 120 medals, 27 gold, 39 silver and 54 bronze. In the last edition, in 2022, the country won 14 medals, 3 gold, 2 silver and 9 bronze, reaching 101 medals.

The projects present themselves as solutions to minimize the country's social problems and guarantee a healthier environment with little pollution.

IENA's focus is, in general, on the areas of Construction Industry, Engineering, Medicine, Cosmetics, Environmental Protection, Information and Communication Technologies, Electronics, Computing, Chemistry, Advertising, Designer, Agriculture, Sports, Times free, and hobbies.

Among the 18 participating countries, only Angola and Algeria represented the African continent, after Cameroon and Egypt withdrew from the showcase of inventions and creators, which included the participation of exhibitors from countries such as Germany, China, Taiwan, Iran, Greece, Iraq, South Korea, Lebanon, Vietnam and Croatia.
