Angola currently has a Satellite Communication Laboratory, developed by the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), in partnership with ITEL and INFOSI, and aims to disseminate knowledge about science, technology and the space industry to Angolan youth.

The said laboratory was presented at the inauguration of Digital.ao, an incubator dedicated to boosting telecommunications, information and computing technologies, as well as small, medium and large companies, in order to strengthen this sub-sector of the national economy, and where the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, first saw hand the valences of the creation of this laboratory, partnerships, courses given and a summary of what happens to the signal in a chain of transmission and reception of the communication via satellite simulated in the laboratory.

BUT: GGPEN was admitted as a member of the International Astronautical Federation

According to what was revealed, this Satellite Communication Laboratory aims to support Angolan young people and professionals interested in starting careers in satellite communications, as a VSAT antenna installer or NOC operator (Network Operator Center) and is configured as a door of opportunity for the professional qualification of cadres.

"The fundamentals of radiofrequency taught to the trainees, allows them to perceive the real phenomena of satellite communication, through the practical application of the concepts and techniques of manipulation of the signal, giving them the opportunity to consolidate the theoretical concepts learned in the academy or experience of job”, said Ermeliana Tchipita Soares, GGPEN engineer assigned to the service channel and payload of the Angosat-2.

"The installation of this laboratory by GGPEN at Digital.AO aims to prepare young people individually or organized in cooperatives so that in the future, with the advent of the Angosat-2 satellite, they can be the driving forces of digital inclusion in their communities, through the provision of digital services such as internet, telephony, data, distance education, telemedicine, etc., thus accelerating the expansion of the Digital.AO brand throughout the national territory, in a simple way and with reduced costs in telecommunications infrastructure, provided by VSAT terminals”, added Gilberto Gomes, responsible for Space Education at GGPEN.
