Angola intends that the technicians and operators of the Communications Sector in Southern Africa are increasingly trained, in order to guarantee citizens quality services at affordable prices, according to the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira.

Speaking at the second workshop on “Regulatory Framework and Space Economy”, held recently in Luanda, the minister stressed that training is of paramount importance for the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Mário Oliveira stressed that the event comes to “equip technicians with tools to face the challenges of regulating satellite services and space economy”.

"It should be noted that at SADC level, a lot of investment has been made in terms of space infrastructure, but there is also an urgent need to equip our regulatory bodies with the necessary tools to better monitor the different programs, thus guaranteeing a harmonious coexistence of the projects", said.

BUT: Government will continue to invest in infrastructure to ensure a technological future

The official stresses that it is necessary for regulatory bodies, researchers, inventors, operators and commercial agents of ICTs, in particular those gathered in the Association of Communication Regulators of Southern Africa (CRASA), to be focused on the adequacy of norms and management processes for the benefit of the population.

"Angola has a very ambitious National Space Program, where the training chapter is one of the main elements for achieving the program's objectives.”, said the governor.

The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication made it known that the future of the region, in particular, and of the African continent, in general, depends on the continuous training of staff, particularly youth.

The official defended the need for joint work so that Africa is technologically evolved, for the benefit of the people, towards progress.
