Angola defends digital education program in SADC

The countries of Southern African Development Community (SADC) must make a joint investment to finance the school digitalization program, according to the Minister of Education, Luísa Grillo.

Speaking during the signing of the memorandum of understanding with the United Arab Emirates on digitalization of education, the leader highlighted that collaboration must be the keyword between developed countries and those in sub-Saharan Africa, slightly less developed or developing.

"At the level of the SADC region, I believe it is possible for us to make joint investments, and together we seek funding partners for programs that can help us develop the digitalization of our schools more quickly”, said Luísa Grillo.

The joint program in terms of education, between SADC countries, to enable the development of their infrastructure and connectivity in a coordinated manner, and mainly to overcome the issue of teacher training.

According to Luísa Grillo, this program aims to define a competency qualification framework for teachers in the field of digital education.

“We would then have, at SADC level, a framework for basic and especially secondary education and be able to move forward together so that no one is left behind”.

The minister recognized, however, the differences in levels of development between countries, some more experienced and advanced in matters of digitalization of education and others still lagging behind.
