Angola ranked as the fourth most vulnerable country to cyber attacks in Africa, according to the Territory Director for Angola, Cape Verde and Mozambique, Analyze Ferreira, responsible for Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde at Check Point – a company that operates in several countries in the area of internet security.

Analise revealed this data, October 11, during the CiberSecur Summit 2023, which according to director Ferreira, on average, the country faces around two thousand successful attacks per week.

Analise Ferreira highlighted South Africa as the safest country in the region due to its remarkable ability to face and circumvent targeted attacks against its infrastructure, establishing itself as a positive example of cyber resilience in Africa.

The country needs to start creating adequate mechanisms and tools to stop these attacks”, added the Check Point manager, revealing that many attacks that take place in Angola are not publicized.

The general director of Cybersecur, Hélio Pereira, warns that if public and private companies continue to register cyber attacks, the country's image could be compromised, which could inhibit the entry of businesspeople who intend to invest in Angola.

Governments must develop and implement cybersecurity laws and regulations that define responsibilities and requirements for companies and government bodies, as well as penalties for illegal practices.

It is necessary to promote cybersecurity education among the population and institutions, including training for public and private employees. And establish partnerships with other countries and international organizations to share information and collaborate in the fight against cross-border cyber threats.
