Angola and Cuba will expand joint cooperation in the field of biotechnology, an area of ​​study that manipulates living organisms with a view to developing new technologies, used to improve humanity's quality of life.

The information was revealed by the Cuban ambassador to Angola, Oscar Gonzalez, in an exclusive interview with Jornal de Angola, reiterating that his country has a Biotechnology industry with more than 30 years of experience, revealing that it has been fundamental in the production of vaccines to combat the Covid-19 virus.

Oscar Gonzalez reported that the Cuban Government produced five immunization vaccines against the pandemic, three of which were approved, which allowed the country to immunize more than 90 percent of the population.

"This is an example that can serve as cooperation. Cuba is producing a therapeutic vaccine against lung cancer. We are cooperating with other countries in this field, including Venezuela, USA, and some in Europe”, said Oscar Gonzalez, ensuring that an invitation had been made to the Angolan Government to be part of the project.

"We offer Angola the possibility of cooperating in the field of Biotechnology and medicine production, including technology transfer. Angola could become a Technological Development Center in the area, in Africa”He added.
