Angola is the first SADC country to electronically track high-risk containers

Angola became the first State of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC) to implement the electronic control program for containers (PCC), according to sources from the Customs services, represented by the General Tax Administration (AGT).

According to that public institution, since last year Angola has joined the Container Control Program (PCC), an initiative that aims to banish infractions, with the support of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Customs Organization (OMAN).

The electronic container control program (PCC) works in a centralized and technological way, in order to elaborate the profile of High Risk Containers, obtaining access to an electronic search system, in addition to enabling users to track containers with specific destinations , provide detailed information on the type of cargo, route and payment methods.

For Ângelo Silva, head of the Tariffs and Customs Trade Department at AGT, the implementation of this program aligns our country in the international fight against drug trafficking, wild animals, counterfeit and pirated products, as well as other offenses within the scope of international trade. .
