Angola now has a National Science and Technology Policy (PNCTI), which will aim to boost the country's economic diversification.
The PNCTI will focus on scientific productivity, dissemination and technology transfer. The instrument aims to empower various sectors, such as industry, commerce and agriculture, by providing technological tools capable of boosting economic growth until 2030.
The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Paula Simões, emphasized the importance of the country keeping up with global technological progress. According to her, the project will bring great benefits and will prepare the population for future challenges.
BUT: MESCTI launches plan to implement incubators in universities
The initial phase of the project began in September and involves data collection and interviews with key stakeholders in four provinces.
The initiative reaffirms the government's commitment to innovation and sustainable growth, with the involvement of ministries, universities and international organizations in the formulation of robust and inclusive policies.
The project in question has a partnership with the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), and is financed by the European Union (EU) under the Sector Development Program (PDS) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESSTI).
