Angola Online will continue to promote ICTs in Huambo, highlights INFOSI

The program "Angola Online”, which is run by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS), will continue to promote ICTs in the province of Huambo, according to the Deputy Director of INFOSI, Marcos Damião.

The official was speaking at the inauguration of yet another free internet point in the province, this time in Doctor António Agostinho Neto square, reinforcing that the service provides free internet access, as well as promoting digital inclusion, so that the population has unrestricted access to these technological resources.

Marcos Damião stressed that the results of the “Angola Online” service have been satisfactory and has a capacity of 100 kilobytes per second, within a radius of 100 meters of signal propagation under unlimited conditions of the number of users.

In his speech, the director called on users to take care of these technological infrastructures, to contribute to the promotion of sustainable development, through information and communication technologies.

Marcos Damião said that INFOSI has been promoting constant events to improve the digital literacy of the population, for the correct use of the internet and the benefit of these technological resources for the well-being of communities.

“Angola Online” has the support of several national technology companies, with emphasis on Angola Telecom, TV Cabo, Internet Technologies Angola (ITA), UNITEL and Zap Fibras, within the scope of its social responsibilities, while in suburban areas they will be installed through the VSat system, that is, via satellite and at each access point installed 100 megabytes, for a range of 100 meters away, coupled with lightning rods.
