Angola may have its own automobile plant

After the information that “Cars in Angola will move to digital matricula“, Now there is another good news for the car market in the country, since a partnership has already been established between the Angolan Government and the African Association of Automobile Manufacturers so that Angola can install its own car factory.

This partnership will guarantee experiences of brands such as: BMW, Toyota, Nissan, General Motors, Volkswagen and Ford to help and achieve these goals. The announcement of this partnership was held in the city of Pretoria (South Africa) by the president of AAAM Jeff Nemeth.

Second Jeff Nemeth (also chairman of Ford Motor Compay for Sub-Saharan Africa), said that this proposal to Angola is identical to the proposal made to Kenya, highlighting the importance of the experience accumulated by the brands that the association represents in the continent, thus allowing the design of a actions to create a car industry in Angola. He said that this initiative is justified by the clear need to undo the economic potential of the African continent.

With the discussions held, these discussions are being considered in a first phase to study the mechanisms for the creation of this automobile industry in the country, thus controlling the pros and cons of this business in comparison with any range of needs and priorities of the country at this stage of the Angolan economy.

  1. Yes, I fully agree with the existence of a car industry in Angola, as it will help a lot in the creation of new jobs and absorb a high number of unemployed workforce. In fact, the automotive industry in Angola is nothing new since in the 60s there were already assembly lines for LAND-ROVER, “Datsun” (Nissan), “Renault 4” and city buses, motorcycles and HONDA and SUZUKI motorcycles in Luanda and YAMAHA in Huambo.
