The largest submarine cable system in the world, 2África, lands this Sunday, July 30, on the sea coast of Cacuaco, in Luanda, a service that will be operated by the mobile operator, Unitel.

The 2Àfrica Consortium has eight international partners, namely China Mobile International, Meta (Facebook), MTN GlobalConnect, Orange, center3 (stc), Telecom Egypt, Vodafone/Vodacom and WIOCC, investors that ensure this transatlantic connection. The undersea cable project aims to significantly increase the capacity, quality and availability of internet connectivity between Africa and the rest of the world.

According to a note from Unitel that ANGOP had access to, 2África was designed to provide continuous international connectivity to approximately three million people, representing 36% of the global population, connecting Africa, Europe and Asia. Unitel is the only Angolan operator that joined the said consortium, being responsible for creating the conditions for mooring operations connecting cable 2África to Angola.

Through its national fiber network, the operator will be able to provide access to 2África to national telecommunications operators and operators from neighboring countries, such as Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Namibia.
