Angola receives international certification for issuing electronic passports.

Angola is officially authorized to begin issuing electronic passports, a significant milestone in the modernization of the country's immigration services.

The confirmation was made after a work session held in this Wednesday (05)at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, where a delegation from the Ministry of the Interior presented the national electronic passport project with a view to obtaining international certification.

The Director-General of the Immigration and Foreigners Service (SME), José Coimbra Baptista Júnior, who headed the delegation, announced that the Angolan government's project had been approved by ICAO, receiving the necessary validation to proceed with its implementation.

The certification represents a decisive step in the modernization and security of travel documents issued by Angola, aligning the country with international standards for identification and mobility.
