Angola will have its first redundancy data center (Tier III), being a data center with energy autonomy capacity in data protection that make the system the most advanced in the country and at the level of the best international practices.
The technological infrastructure will be built by the pan-African group Raxio, with operation scheduled for February 2024, according to what is revealed by the SeeAngola.
"Angola is the latest facility to form part of Raxio Group's Tier III data center network, a rapidly expanding and interconnected network across the African continent“, informs the statement.
The note stresses that the construction of the data center is due to “rapid development” of the country's digital and telecommunications ecosystem, which currently has a “internet penetration rate of approximately 27 percent”, factors that provide an “opportunity for growth".
"With Tier III certified data centers, Raxio Angola will be a key link between terrestrial and underwater connectivity, serving both local and international customers", stresses the official statement.

The data center will be located in the municipality of Cacuaco, north of the country's capital, closer to the connection points of the existing submarine cables.
"The location will allow Raxio to build a facility to provide over 6 megawatts of active capacity. Raxio's space in Caucuaco benefits from access to reliable grid power, fiber optic terrestrial connectivity and road infrastructure“, stresses the document.
Still on this path, with the objective of making Angola a “strategic hub of connectivity in the region“, will include significant cross-border data traffic with the Democratic Republic of Congo, where “Raxio has already built a state-of-the-art facility in Kinshasa".
It should be noted that the overall investment in this operation has not been advanced, but the company adds that the data center is being developed in collaboration with international and local partners, “carefully selected according to Ráxio’s tried and tested standards of excellence”.
The respective facilities will also provide conditions for companies, regional and international, content delivery network and cloud services.
