Angola to attend the Regional Programming Contest

Last year Angola was present in the 19 South African Regional Programming Contest (ACM-ICPC), where 8 teams were selected for the international competition, 8 Angolan teams from some universities in the country. For this 20th edition of the aforementioned competition, fifteen Angolan teams from five higher education institutions (HEIs) represent Angola, between the 19th and 20th of this month. The contest will be online, in real time, with candidates concentrated in specific locations in their country. In Angola, they will be concentrated in the Higher Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (ISUTIC).

What are the Angolan teams that will participate in this contest?

According to a press release, the national competitors are from the faculties of Computer Science and Informatics Engineering at the Agostinho Neto University, Higher Polytechnic Institute of Technologies and Science (ISPTEC), Higher Military Technical Institute (ISTM), Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISP) - Huíla, qualified in the national phase that took place on the 6th and 7th of September.

The Angolan teams will compete online and in real time, from the ISUTIC, Angolan headquarters of the competition, against teams from South Africa, Niger, Togo, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, among others. The winner will represent the region in the world competition taking place at the University of Porto, from 31 from March to 5 in April of 2019.

The International University Competition for Programming (ACM-ICPC) is the largest and oldest programming competition among universities around the world. It is a competition held annually under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
