Angolan civil society has chosen multicaixas as its main means of payment, although they do not move more money than transfers, reveals the most recent data from the National Bank of Angola (BNA) on the Payment System, published by the magazine Economy & Market.

According to data from the country's main banking institution, by December 2021, 640 million payment operations were transacted through multicaixa, moving more than 14,5 billion kwanzas, highlighting that Angolans prefer to make payments via multicaixa network.

BUT: BNA will implement a mobile and instant transfer system this year

The numbers released by the BNA also showed that, despite being the most used, the payment system via multicaixa is below payments using transfers in terms of the volume of money moved, since they moved more than 51 billion kwanzas in the same period mentioned above.

According to the report, reports that 51 million kwanzas were paid via the real-time payment system and that it has 30 active participants.
