In a short time Angonix positioned itself among the biggest points of exchange of traffic of the African continent, with peaks in the order of 10.8 Gbps. This development is having a direct impact on the quality of the Internet in the country, ensuring that users have access to content more quickly, as much of the traffic is shared locally among the entities linked to Angonix.

The Angonix platform is the third largest point of exchange of traffic on the African continent in terms of peak traffic, if we count an IXP per country. The platform completed on March 16, 2018, three years since its creation. Despite the short time, the results are notable, with emphasis on the positive influence on improving the quality of the Internet in the country and the number of interconnected members.

Which entity manages Angonix?

The Angonix platform is managed by the Angolan telecommunications multinational, Angola Cables. Currently active members of the 19 platform are exchanging traffic, allowing users linked to these members to access content faster and more efficiently because they do not travel long distances when they want to access international content.

Darwin Costa (Manager of Angonix), considers this advantage as being decisive for improving the quality of telecommunications, because the data, when accessed by a user in Angola - provided that its provider (Internet Service Providers) is connected to Angonix, they become available and shared locally. That is, other users who want to use the same content do not have to travel long distances because they are already available locally, significantly reducing the time of sending and receiving information (latency).

He also stressed that, despite a short time, we can say that Angonix exceeded expectations, proof of which is that it ranked third in the ranking of the highest traffic points in Africa. The adherence to the platform was exceptional, over the course of these 36 months we have managed to have 19 active members connected, which in a way created and leveraged the basis for the exchange of traffic locally.
