A few years ago, most of the traffic generated from Angola was forced to transit international connections, due to the limited interconnection capacity between providers. To get around the situation, Angola Cables established Angonix, the platform for exchanging Internet traffic within the country.

The Angonix platform - the Internet Exchange Point (IXP) managed by Angola Cables, registered on February 19 its greatest peak of traffic, of 5.2Gbps, a figure that shows the trend of growth in the use of the Internet in the country, as a result of investment in technology and price reduction in telecommunications services in Angola.

Second Darwin Coast (Project Manager), this new peak in traffic only demonstrates the data growth potential that Angola has at the broadband level. The number of members and exchange of information between the same networks has grown significantly and the platform already counts already with 15 active members, where one of the main objectives for 2017 is the interconnection of 10 new networks with priority in the Universities in Angola.

The connection of new networks to Angonix allows optimization of regional and national traffic in Angola. Interconnection, as a means of communication, provides an increase in speed and reliability in the exchange of information between customers. Large companies, media groups, content providers, universities as well as companies in the banking and insurance sectors are some of the members of this service.

  1. It is wrong to say "A few years ago ...". The correct one is “A few years ago…”.
When you say "Some years ago", it is no longer necessary to add the word "behind".
