O Angosat-2 provided Internet access to more than 300 citizens in 13 provinces of Angola, with emphasis on remote areas, according to the general director of the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), engineer Zolana João.

Speaking during the 32nd Thematic Session of the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, the official stressed that one of the main objectives of Angosat-2 is to guarantee Internet access in regions without this service, prioritizing connectivity in isolated areas.

"The focus is on enabling people to stop traveling long distances to communicate with the rest of the country. We want at least 40% of the population to have access, facilitating the economic and social development of these regions.“, explained the general director of GGPEN.

BUT: Infrasat and MS Telcom are the only ones authorized to market Angosat-2 services

It should be noted that in two years, Angosat-2 has already enabled the installation of internet services in more than 150 remote locations (communes and municipalities) in the country, as well as in public and private institutions.

This technological update and benefits coming from the national satellite is due to the installation of more than 150 “Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT)” terminals – small antennas providing telecommunications services – which are connected through the Angolan Satellite, in a business class action of this sector.
