O Angosat 1 is an Angolan geostationary communication satellite that is under construction by the Russian company RKK Energy. This will be operated by Angosat. The satellite will be based on the USP Bus platform and its life expectancy will be fifteen years.

The Angolan Executive should start operating the first Angosat 1 national satellite this year, the minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies reiterated yesterday, Monday in Luanda -  José Carvalho da Rocha.

After a closed-door meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and plenipotentiary representative of the Federal District of the Far East, Yuri Trutnev, stressed that at this moment the project is going as expected, being above 80 percent of execution.

Second Yuri Trutnev, the meeting was to review the level of cooperation, particularly the projects that both parties have been developing in our sector with the support of the Russian side. During the meeting with the Angolan side, an assessment was made of the state of the Angosat project, where the next steps to be taken were considered.

Angosat 1 will be Angola's first communications satellite, whose contract was signed by the Russian and Angolan parties in the year 2009, whose work began at the end of 2012 and will have a capacity of 16 transponders, C-band and six-band KU to provide telecommunications services to Angola, with a scope for Africa and Europe.
