[AngoTIC 2018] President of the Republic points to ICT challenges in Angola

AngoTIC 2018 could not have started in the best way, the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, opened the event and during his speech gave indications of how he considers ICTs important for the country's development.

At the governmental level, the PR indicated aspects such as economic inclusion, state reform, good governance, modernization and bureaucratization of public service, digital economy and e-government, as important points that should be supported by ICTs.

It reaffirms the Executive's commitment to the promotion and sustainable development of telecommunications services to satisfy the basic needs of the population, companies and users throughout the national territory.

He spoke of a telecommunications policy aimed at laying the foundations for a new market structure, which exploited the potential of ICT in the economic, social, cultural and environmental fields.

The President said that the challenge was to overcome the challenge of transforming telecommunications in Angola as a catalyst for development, and to harmonize the system with neighboring countries and with the world to avoid technological exclusion.

It was expected that the PR would speak of prominent projects in the Telecommunications sector, after the repercussions of the failure of the AngoSAT-1 mission, and during the speech this was one of the points mentioned, stating that it is still the Executive's intention to invest in projects structural and inductors such as broadband infrastructures based on optical fiber and satellite transmission within the framework of Angosat.

The Angola Cables MONET project, which links Angola to Brazil, was another highlight. The PR has once again raised the issue of the creation of the industry and the broadcasting market within the framework of the digital migration strategy.


O AngoTIC will take place in the CCTA between 19 and 21 in January and will be attended by the most important players in the ICT sector in Angola.
