Umbrella application brings details of private and collective taxi routes in Angola

Taxis are the most used means of transport in Angola. With the known limitation in public transport, the private sector has addressed this deficiency. If you travel through Luanda or any other province in Angola, you will certainly see a “Blue and White”, as collective taxis are called. However, the safety of public transport is often questioned, with reports of robberies, non-compliance with routes, price speculation. Solutions are sought.

What if you could identify certified collective taxis?

Januário Agostinho, creator of the Umbrella App

Then comes the Umbrella application, an application that was created by Januário Augustine and developed by the company Select Service, to operate in the mobility and public security sector.

With this application, all vehicles in Angola, which carry out the activity of Taxi, will be registered to guarantee the best service to passengers.

The registration data for collective passenger taxis known as “azul e Branco” and buses will be:

  • Side, front and rear images of the vehicle.
  • Name and photographs of drivers and collectors
  • Most frequent routes,
  • Taxi license plate and license numbers,
  • Association to which it belongs,
  • Owner and telephone contacts.

After the registration is made, a vehicle identification number of a maximum of (4) four digits will be generated, which will be pasted on the front, side and above the vehicle.

Through this identification number, passengers, police and associations will be able to search the App and have all information about the vehicle.

Passenger benefits

  • Passengers will be able to classify the behavior of the driver and collector;
  • Report charges of exaggerated prices, short roads, speeding;
  • Passengers will have access to a panic button (alarm) if they feel in danger inside the vehicle.

In direct contact with the national police

All notifications of complaints, ratings and panic button will be forwarded directly to the CISP - Integrated Public Security Center, with the data of who reports and the geo location of the vehicle from which the complaint arose. This will allow the vehicle to be tracked and guarantee the safety of the users of the application.

More features ...

Passengers will still have access to the menu Lost and found where they can report or find lost and found items inside taxis or on public roads.

In version 1.2, which will be launched later this year, “blue and white” Taxis in better condition and comfort may be called for taxi rides by groups of passenger profiles with the same routes or symmetries, which will be created in the App .

Users will have access to traffic in real time and will be able to share obstacles on public roads.

Launch

The launch is expected soon, in a first phase it will be available on iOS, Android and Web platforms. It is planned to provide the same features for mobile phones that are not smarts, through USSD technology.
