The latest version of iOS 17 arrived this week and brings with it a set of new features to try on the iPhone, from the Journal app (or Diary in Portuguese) to support for spatial videos on the iPhone 15 Pro models, in anticipation of the launch of Apple Vision Pro.

But the arrival of iOS 17.2 brings more reasons to update your smartphone. This version of Apple's operating system brings a security update which fixes a set of vulnerabilities that could put the smartphone at risk.

Among the flaws fixed are two vulnerabilities in WebKit, the online content processing engine used in the Safari browser, including one that gave hackers the ability to execute code remotely.

The update also fixes vulnerabilities considered worrying and which were found in the Kernel, that is, in the central component of the operating system, in ImageIO and another related to Bluetooth connectivity.

When it comes to the new features in iOS 17.2, Apple details that Diary is a new application that gives users the possibility to write about the small and big moments in life, as well as to practice gratitude and improve their well-being.

With the update, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max gain support for spatial video functionality and there are improvements in the telephoto camera's focusing speed to capture small objects at great distances. The more “equipped” models of the iPhone 15 line also now have the Translate option on the action button.

According to Apple, the Messages app now has improvements to stickers, reactions and Memoji, as well as protection against digital threats. AirDrop now includes more options for sharing contacts, boarding passes, movie tickets and other compatible cards when bringing two iPhones together.
