Although a rumor, it was expected. Verge recently announced that Apple has already begun negotiations with Intel since last year to order the chips for their handsets replacing those of Samsung currently used.
With so many lawsuits that the two companies are facing across the world it is normal that the relationship between the two companies will sour over time. It is worth remembering that Apple's dependence on Samsung is essentially in its main devices who use the A6 chips in the current iPhone 5 and the A6X chips in the New iPad that are manufactured by Samsung.
Who should be in fleas to close this contract, if it really exists, is Intel that could make millions for the company's integrated circuits, microprocessors and other chipsets.
