Appy Saúde and Kepya recognized among the 59 best “Startups of Excellence” in Africa

the consortium Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and JICA NINJA Accelerator – Africa recently launched its list of 59 African startups with the category of “Excellence startups”, with the presence of two national startups: Kepya “Agro Marktplace” e appy people, referring to Appy Health.

With the great spread of smartphones on the African continent, technological projects have increasingly emerged with the sole aim of solving various social problems and ending inconvenient situations, and it is on this path that the NINJA project fits in(Next Innovation with Japan) of JICA that recognizes the great work of African entrepreneurs.

Speaking of the national startups that were present in the report, the first to be highlighted is Appy People (Appy Saúde), which ranked 10th° place among 59 possible. THE Appy Health is a national startup that has developed an application that allows users to find the location of pharmacies and doctors closest to them, as well as find medicines available in those same pharmacies and their respective prices. With this service, users of the application can have greater price transparency between national pharmacies, as well as allowing to see any medical institution within the user profile area.

With Appy Saúde it is facilitated the information from the client to the supplier, as well as from the supplier to the client, and above all, to improve the medical services in the healthcare institutions in Angola.

The second national startup that also received recognition from JICA was Kepya, which is a digital market platform that streamlines transactions between customer and supplier of agricultural products. The application allows the inclusion of four players - farmers, aggregators, buyers and transporters – with the aim of quickly responding to each other's needs and conducting secure transactions in real time.

To inform you that joining the application  Kepya it is free of charge, as the company only makes a profit on subsequent transaction fees. With this innovative solution in our country, the startup also aims to provide privileged information on this market, which captures different agents from the agribusiness area.

In addition to Angola, which is represented by two startups, the same report contains the presence of technological projects from Botswana(5), Ghana(3), Senegal(3), Kenya(5), South Africa(3), Burkina Faso( 2), Madagascar(3), Tanzania(3), Cameroon(3), Mauritania(3), Tunisia(5), Côte d'Ivoire(4), Nigeria(8), Uganda(3), Egypt(4), Ethiopia(2), Rwanda(5) and Zambia(3).
