The French government was recently the target of a computer attack, which may have compromised the personal information of millions of citizens residing in the country.

The attack will have occurred on the entity Pôle emploi, being associated with the French government of registration of unemployment and financial aid. A security breach in the entity's systems will have exposed information of almost 10 million citizens who were registered in the entity's system.

According to the entity's statement, a failure in the systems where the job search was registered would allow external access to citizens' data. The flaw affected everyone who registered on the platform in February 2022 or earlier.

Although the entity did not reveal concrete data on the number of affected citizens, the Le Parisien portal states that the entity's records contained information on 10 million citizens.

Among the potentially accessed information are full names and social security numbers Interestingly, email data, passwords or bank details were not affected.

Although the potentially compromised information is relatively short, the entity warns citizens to remain alert to possible schemes and third-party communications.
