A Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is alerting users of older models- the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2 and the 4 2nd Generation iPad to update the software so as not to risk some functionality being affected.

If the operating system iOS If these devices are not updated until next Sunday's 00h00, these devices will no longer be able to connect to the Internet, which will affect Safari, email applications, the App Store, iCloud, and maps.

The phenomenon is related to a communication failure between the GPS satellites and the equipment receiving chips, called “GPS Rollover”. It happens every 1024 weeks, about 19 years and eight months, and results in changing the date and time of the equipment, which is no longer able to synchronize.

In 1999 the counting system was updated and, 20 years later, the counter finished on April 6 of 2019. Some companies have updated the end date, so Apple should be reporting the update for the November 03 deadline.
