O increasing internet access to 75% of the African population, in the near future, could create more than 44 million jobs, reveals the magazine Economy & Market(E&M), in its January edition.

According to the Angolan magazine, an increase of up to 10% in mobile internet penetration in Africa could mean, looking at the numbers, an economic volume of more than 180 billion US dollars by the year 2025, as well as 700 thousand million USD by 2050.

Still looking at our country, the latest reports show that unemployment in adult civil society is 35%, where digital acceleration it is always seen as the best way to promote new businesses and boost the national economy, which has been severely affected by its heavy dependence on oil.

For Angolan specialists, the digital economy can not only generate new jobs, but also the consolidation of the E-commerce, digital services, as well as improving services and increasing transparency, contributing to national economic growth.

BUT: Internet accessibility gap widens in Africa

It should be noted that the digital economy was one of the most discussed subjects at the IV Conference on Digital Transformation, under the theme "The Challenges of Digital Acceleration in Angola”with the presence of the editorial office of MenosFios, where the manager of the AceleraNet program of AngolaCables, Crisóstomo Mbundu, says that “the world today is increasingly digital and hyperconnected, and Covid-19 has accelerated the digital economy and there will be no more retreat".

Looking at the expert's words above, one sees a clear need for the Angolan Government to invest in telecommunications infrastructure, so that only in this way can more space be opened for the digital to contribute more to the real economy.

Still talking about the Conference on Digital Transformation, organized by the E&M magazine, it had a large and extensive range of lecturers, who together again agreed that the costs of investments in the telecommunications sector are unfortunately expensive, therefore, the prices practiced by the operators present in national territory are high, and despite this counterpart, the “the path is investment, whether public or private”.
