Many users reading this article may have realized that for a few hours of the day the Internet became slow and several service providers were eventually affected, and eventually end-users were also affected.

The interruption of these services is due to a fault that occurs in two submarine cables:  SAT-3 of Angola Telecom and the WACS Cables, both interconnect Angola with Europe.

Angola Telecom issued a statement on the matter:

Angola Telecom and the SAT-3 submarine cable consortium are working to recover the damaged section between Libreville and Cacuaco. Therefore, it calls for the best understanding of all its customers, for the inconvenience caused, unbeknownst to us, and will update the information in due course. As for WACS, the problem is not yet advanced, but we believe that Angola Cables will soon report what has happened.

At this moment the submarine cable operating in the country is the BAGS, managed by Angola Cables.
