ADB launches coding program to boost employment in Africa

O African Development Bank, together with partners - the Foundation Rockefeller, Microsoft and the Facebook, launched the “Codification Program for Employment ” at the African Innovation Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

This new program prepares Africa's youth for the jobs of tomorrow and allows the next generation of young digital innovators on the continent to have more capacities to deal with ICTs in different areas. The codification program will create more than 9 million jobs and reach 32 million young people and women across Africa.

The employment coding program is at the heart of the AfDB that aims to put Africa's youth on a path to prosperity. By 2025, the youth employment initiative on the cradle continent will equip 50 million young people with employable skills and create 25 million jobs in agriculture, information and communication technology and other key industries across Africa.

The ADB plans to instruct young people in Africa who have the skills to build businesses, feed the continent, expand power and integration and improve people's quality of life. across the continent, as well as preparing young people for today's competitive digital world.

Over the past 15 years, ADB has invested $ 1,64 million in programs to prepare young people for careers in science, technology and innovation. Placing youth at the center of Africa's inclusive economic growth agenda is at the forefront of this bank's investments.
