The Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon was the stage for a historic moment for Angola: the startup BioCarbono took to the main stage. At Web Summit, represented by Nuno Bandeira, the Angolan flag was carried, and the event also had the chance to share with the world its cleantech solutions that accelerate the energy transition.

Focused on transforming waste into energy and capturing carbon, the BioCarbon It promotes an accessible circular economy. Its offering includes liquid biofuel via pyrolysis of plastics, reducing CO₂; consulting on carbon credits for certified offsets; and IoT devices that recover 5-10% of wasted microenergies from vibrations and heat, powering autonomous, maintenance-free sensors.

These innovations combat fossil fuel dependency in Angola, where mining and agriculture generate massive amounts of waste. For the Angolan ecosystem, BioCarbono inspires green diversification, attracting global investment – echoing debates at the Summit on African sustainability.
