É First of all, it is important to note that when technology was launched, it opened the door to a whole new set of equipment, which communicate wirelessly and within a short distance. Everyone sees them as essential and does not represent any safety hazard for the user.
But apparently the story has now changed, since a new discovery has come to show a serious vulnerability, which leaves you exposed to any attack, with damage to vulnerable equipment.
What is the serious problem with Bluetooth?
The flaw was discovered by the team at Armis, and from what has been described, affects a wide range of devices, from Windows or Linux laptops, to Android or iOS smartphones.
The company also revealed that there are several attack vectors and so this is a simple flaw to exploit.
Na verdade, or BlueBorne, name given to this failure, does not require that there is any pre-established connection and not even that the user authorizes any special permission in the applications.
How does it work?
The attack works by exploiting failures in the communication protocol used by Bluetooth. It allows the injection of malicious code and, thanks to the high permissions that the Bluetooth devices have on the systems, the attack goes completely silent, allowing the control of the machine.
What is the solution to this problem?
Once this problem is detected, the Armis already reported this problem in April of 2017, several brands have already solved the problem. In the case of Apple products, the brand resolved the failure with the release of the 10 version of iOS. Only previous versions are vulnerable.
Microsoft has also recently launched a update for all its operating systems to definitively solve the BlueBorne. Also in Linux there are already several solutions released, in the form of updates.
O Android case is more serious. Again, and as a result of fragmentation, many are the devices exposed to the problem. Google, as part of its security update program, has already issued a correction, either for the Android Nougat (7.0) and for the marshmallow (6.0). This was included in the September update.
