More and more users are spending time inside apps on their smartphones. At least this is the result of a recent study by the company App Annie, on the state of mobile devices in the market.

According to the study, each user spends on average about 4.8 hours a day within applications on their smartphones. This figure represents an increase of almost 30% compared to the last two years, and a third of users' active hours in different countries.

At the country level, Brazil leads, with an average of 5.5 hours that each user spends within apps, followed by South Korea with the 4 hour mark. Mexico, India and Japan are also very close to these values.

If the numbers were impressive in terms of hours, they are even higher in terms of the amount of money users spent on apps. During the last year, almost 170 billion dollars were spent on purchases on different smartphone platforms. This corresponds to nearly $320.000 spent per minute in 2021.

In terms of downloads of new apps, the value reached more than 230 billion across the different platforms, a 5% growth compared to the previous year. Put another way, it corresponds to around 435.000 apps downloaded every minute. Undoubtedly, the market has been growing, and if this trend continues, we could reach new record values ​​as early as 2022.
