Railways will resort to new technologies to ensure the safety of people and goods

The use of new technologies, namely video surveillance cameras, drones and sensors, will be used to protect the railway lines and rolling equipment of the Benguela (CFB), Luanda (CFL) and Moçâmedes (CFM) Railways .

This information was decided upon at the most recent concertation meeting on railway safety by the CFB, CFL and CFM, held in the city of Lobito, last week, between the boards of directors of these companies, the National Police and magistrates.

According to the official note of the meeting, the boards of directors of the three companies are going to carry out communication campaigns on the importance of the railways, focused on the need for the safety of all its components.

One of the National Police's responsibilities will be to intensify control of the channels for buying and selling and recycling ferrous material, according to the statement.

On the other hand, Manuel Kanda Kanda, secretary for Administration for Infrastructures of the National Land Transport Agency, also present at the meeting, stressed that actions must be developed that can be carried out in the short term and that joint efforts be made to its materialization.

"The success of this activity will only be reflected, from a qualitative point of view, when the communities where the trains pass begin to realize that the preservation of this public good satisfies, to a great extent, the economic perspective of the regions, companies and, above all, the country.”, he emphasized.

It should be noted that in addition to the PCA of the three railway companies in the country, the second general commander of the National Police, chief commissioner António Pedro Candela, and the provincial commanders of Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Moxico were present at the two-day meeting. , Luanda, Cuanza Norte, Malanje, Namibe, Huíla and Cuando Cubango.
