Senegalese-American singer Akon has said he plans to release his next album via a non-fungible token (NFT) to 'monetize it from the day it is released', reveals the Esquire.

"Throughout my career, I have always believed that artists never got their fair share of profits for the work they produced and that people listened to.“, said the singer in the interview with Esquire.

It should be noted that in recent years, many artists have complained that music streaming services do not pay them enough for their songs, so for the highly regarded singer, NFTs offer full transparency on where a song is being played, who is playing it and how many times it was played.

"With this, I will be able to monetize it from the day it is released on all existing platforms”, added AKON.

In the same vein, last week and at an event at Expo Dubai, called “Akoin. One Africa One Coin”, Akon once again presented its cryptocurrency AKOIN (AKN), this time with the support of Mastercard, and which for some analysts is already in the Top 5 of the safest cryptocurrencies today.

BUT: Angola with first platform of non-fungible tokens (NFTs)

According to what was revealed by the singer, AKOIN was designed to be the means of regular transactions in Akon City, that is, his futuristic city, 100% technological, environmentally friendly and powered by solar energy, projected at the level of the imaginary Wakanda , from the renowned film “Black Panther”, whose first prototype is already being built in Senegal and the second to be built in Uganda.

Still talking about his cryptocurrency, Akon says that it intends to help digital entrepreneurs and small and medium African entrepreneurs to carry out local transactions from Africa to the rest of the world, without the obstacles created by African governments, which are the biggest hampering the development of emerging markets in Africa.

Finally, for Akon, Akon City and the AKOIN cryptocurrency can be one of the keys to Commercial Freedom and the Internationalization of African entrepreneurship.
