Computer crime: more than 2 thousand cases in progress in the country

The experts spoke this Thursday morning during the panel discussion on the scenario of computer crimes in Angola, as part of the activities on the second day of the Cyber ​​Secur SUMMIT.

According to the Head of the SIC's Computer Crimes Department, António Ndakupapo, to date, the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) has registered a total of 2.789 cases related to computer crimes, the majority of which are linked to activities on social media.

António Ndakupapo revealed that, as a result of these investigations, authorities detained 97 individuals on suspicion of involvement in various cybercrimes uncovered by the SIC.

On the other hand, Computer engineer, Patrício Correia, believes that increasing digital literacy is the key to reducing the number of computer crimes, helping to prevent people from continuing to be victims of fraud through social networks.

On the other hand, Elisabeth Cardoso, a jurist with a postgraduate degree in Digital Law, highlighted the absence of legal provisions that allow an effective approach to resolving crimes in the digital environment.
