Studies by the University of Southern California indicate the demographic density of the population in the Twitter, reveal that about 48 million accounts on this social network are fake.
According to the study, the 48 million accounts that account for 15% of all social network users are actually robots. Many of the likes, retweets or comments don't actually come from human hands. These are bots programmed to do this.
These are usually profiles with photos and generic names, able to enjoy, retweet and follow real profiles just to share spam. Some are made just to support political parties and candidates and others to spread terrorist propaganda and even viruses.
"It is data that can cause even more disadvantage to Twitter compared to its opponents."
The social network said through a spokesperson that it is important to note that although bots are often viewed as negative, many turn out to be beneficial, such as those that alert people to the occurrence of disasters.
Twitter already faces many difficulties in competing with opponents Facebook, Instagram e Snapchat, andAlthough a large number of false accounts were already suspected in the social network, the results show that this is far higher than expected.
