A Check Point Research, the Threat Intelligence area of ​​Check Point Software Technologies, released last week data on trends latest cyberattacks both in Angola and in the world.

From a global perspective, Ransomware attacks already affect 1 in 40 companies per week. The three most affected sectors are the Public Administration/Military Sector, Education/Research and Health and the increase in geopolitical tensions and the generalization of work and distance learning led to a 59% increase in Ransomware attacks in homologous terms .

To prevent these attacks against Ransomware, the company released a list of five tips that organizations should follow:

– Back up your data: it should be done regularly and constantly, if possible on all devices of all employees in the company.

– Be Proactive: before waiting for the attack to happen, having a response strategy already planned, anticipating the situation of your company being the target of a Ransomware attack.

– Using Content Scanning and Filtering: By implementing scanning and content filtering capabilities, companies are able to better protect employees against potential threats that start through phishing links, a common method for hackers.

– Keep systems up to date: having systems updated with the latest patches also makes the company more secure.

– Train employees: if your company's employees are familiar with the best practices in the cybersecurity world, such as choosing strong passwords and avoiding sharing personal credentials and links and content that look suspicious or unfamiliar, the team will be well trained and with good habits.
