Twitter source code shared on the Internet

Parts of the source code that makes the social network Twitter function have been shared on the GitHub platform, without the consent of the company owned by Elon Musk.

In response, Twitter seeks information about the culprits, who wants to see punished in court.

According to the lawsuit, quoted by The New York Times (NYT), the 'bits' of code were posted by a user under the pseudonym 'FreeSpeechEnthusiast'.

Last Friday, GitHub removed the publications, at the request of Twitter.

The source code is the set of computer code lines of the digital platforms that contain instructions for the operation of the systems.

According to the NYT, the social network asked the US court to order GitHub to present "all identifying information” associated with the user 'FreeSpeechEnthusiast', as well as with all users who have downloaded content relating to the Twitter source code.

Internally, it is suspected that the sharing may have been done by a former employee of the company.

The 'leak' happened at a turbulent time for the company, which Elon Musk himself, also owner of Tesla and SpaceX, admitted it was worth half of what he bought it for.
