How to move chats from WhatsApp to Telegram

The messaging application Telegram recently received a new major update, and one of the main highlights is a tool that allows users to easily migrate from WhatsApp for your platform.

With the new version of Telegram, the application allows users to migrate their chats from the platform that belongs to Facebook, to Telegram, with just a few taps.

  • “To move a WhatsApp chat on iOS, to Telegram, open the Contact information or Group information page on WhatsApp, tap Export chat and choose Telegram from the share menu. On Android, open a WhatsApp chat, tap ⋮> More> Export chat and choose Telegram from the share menu ”, explains Telegram.
  • “The best part is that the messages, and multimedia you move, don't need to take up extra space. Older applications let you store all the data on your device - but Telegram can take up virtually no space while allowing you to access all your messages, photos and videos whenever you need to, ” says Telegram.

Facebook's recent attempt to update WhatsApp's privacy policy has left many users concerned and looking for a more “secure” messaging platform, such as Telegram. This shift spawned what Telegram founder Pavel Durov says is "the biggest digital migration in human history" after the platform saw a huge increase in active users.

In a recent statement, Durov revealed that several political leaders and several public organizations rely on Telegram to combat disinformation and spread awareness about important issues in their societies.

Durov says that “unlike other networks, Telegram does not use non-transparent algorithms to decide whether a subscriber will see the content they have subscribed to or not. As a result, Telegram channels are the only direct way for opinion leaders to reliably connect with their audience. ”
